Making Research Work

A strategy is a strategy is a strategy. No one strategy automatically equates to success. "Strategy is a style of thinking, a conscious and deliberate process, an intensive implementation system, the science of ensuring future success." (Peter Johnson; Expert on Leadership and Organizational Change) As we begin our investigation of The Essential 6, we will evaluate current educational research, "Chinese Menus" of strategies and the following educational research based best practices/tips for success.
  1. Capturing interest
  2. Explaining the purpose/students' roles
  3. Teaching the thinking related to the strategy
  4. Use discussion and questioning techniques to increase extended thinking
  5. Ask student to synthesize and transfer their learning
  6. Reflection
